    MEZZANINE USED ONLY FOR STORAGE

A building that I am working on has an existing mezzanine that was permitted. The mezzanine is used only for storage. The existing common path of travel exceeds 100'. Are there any exceptions in the code that allow the common path of travel to be disregarded for storage mezzanines? I...

Choice of two exits...but one is outside POT

I might be over thinking this but I've read almost all of Chapter 10 in the 2018 IBC and commentary and can't find clear wording on this. In this scenario two exits are required, and you reach the first exit stair under the common path of travel distance, lets say 125' for a R-2 occupancy...

    egress from office suites

I have a suite, after the original space was demised, left with only one exit. The common path of travel (furthest point to spot where I have access to two distinct exits or exit access doorways) exceeds 100'. It is 125' to the exit stairway, which means I need two exit access doorways out of...

There is no CPET in a single exit building

Scenario: R2 3-story walk-up apartment building where each exterior exit stairway supports 4 dwelling units per floor. The exterior exit stairway is separated from the dwelling units by 1hr fire barriers and 1hr exit access doorways. The exit access travel distance ends at the unit doors with...

2 Exits Required - Both Need to Be Under 300'?

Where two exits are required and the max common path of travel is met, does each travel distance to the two exits need to be under 300'? Or does only one travel distance need to be under 300'?

Common path of travel - around systems furniture

I have 3 cubicle clusters. Each cluster has, at least, 44" between them - those pathways leading South to main aisleways which lead to emergency exits. Those pathways (between the clusters) are 18'-9" in length. At the North head of the clusters, the pathway between the clusters and the 3...

    2013 CBC/IBC for R-3

2013 CBC/IBC for R-3 The way we're reading code in Section 1016 is that the overall Exit Distance is limited to 200 feet. According to Section 1014, the Common Path of Travel is limited to 75 feet. This is in a building with two (2) exits. Are we missing anything? Thanks in advance!
