    Comcheck in TX

Hi Folks, I have no experience with Comcheck, and I'm newly working in TX. I've always gone the prescriptive route, look up my R-values in the ASHRAE and meet them. So, why then would I go through the tedious mess of comcheck if I can avoid it? Is there any real benefit? Am I missing some...

    Insulation in Industrial Flex buildings

I'm working on a fit out for an industrial flex building. The front is office, the back is warehouse. Does the exception 5 under C101.4.2.4 hold up if there are also people working in the space full time? In this case it would also benefit the employee and would by default make it more...

Commercial Energy Code pointing directly to ASHRAE 90.1

The Florida Building Code (FBC) Commercial Energy Code in section 405 which governs electrical has a section for electrical power which does not have its own verbiage but instead points directly to ASHRAE 90.1. In this case I am surprised that they did not just explicitly list the code...

    Electrical and The Energy Codes

In all of my jurisdictions up north, we had a handle on the IECC when it came time for the electrical section. I even gave a presentation to my local IAEI chapter explaining the IECC's electrical section and recommended that every electrical inspector should be dual certified under the energy...

Electrical Requirements of the Florida Building Code (Energy)

This is often an overlooked area and something that has always been a bit of a problem getting the electrical inspector and energy inspector to work together or have dual certifications. Here is a link of the FBC Energy Code. If you scroll all the way down to Section 405, you will see the...

Washington state has adopted the following provision as an amendment to the IBC. Does anyone have experience with the enforcement of this section. Seems to be a lot of debate over what the intent of the section is - are the stations required or just the supporting infrastructure (conduit...
