Is a corridor considered an exit? or just an exit access? The definition implies that exit and corridor are not the same.

Can it be either depending on a layout?

and based on that, section 804.4 states

804.4 Interior floor finish limitations. In buildings and spaces classified in Occupancy Group H and in all exits and exit passageways of any occupancy group, floor finishes shall be of noncombustible materials.

If a corridor is considered an exit then no combustible materials are permitted corridors as floor finish. Correct?

If a corridor is not in fact an exit (just part of the exit access) then the restriction is not there (with other applicable restrictions for finish materials)

IS a carpet considered combustible material always? Can there be carpets that are not combustible materials?

Corridor is normally part of an exit system

Is the building sprinkled??

Look at the interior finish table

My doubt comes from the definition of corridor in the 2014 Code:

CORRIDOR.
An enclosed exit access component that defines and provides a path of egress travel to an exit. Corridors shall be
either interior or public.

From the above, it is hard to know if section 804.4 is applicable, particularly the part that refer to exits.

804.4 Interior floor finish limitations. In buildings and spaces classified in Occupancy Group H and in all exits and exit passageways of any occupancy group, floor finishes shall be of noncombustible materials.

A corridor is an exit access component. It is not an exit
An exit provides a protected path of egress travel

EXIT. That portion of a means of egress system between the exit access and the exit discharge or public way. Exit components include exterior exit doors at the level of exit discharge, interior exit stairways and ramps, exit passageways, exterior exit stairways and ramps and horizontal exits.
