Daycare Enclosed Playground

Hi and thanks for your help and time with this.

I have an operational daycare center in NJ with an enclosed fenced in courtyard which I am trying to use as the designated "playground" for the childcare center.
I was told the area needed to have a direct path to the street in order to be useable.

However, after looking at the code its my understanding that this is only required if the path leading to the playground is a means of egress for the space. It is not, there are two other egress areas leading directly to the street. The minimum distance to one of these exits from the playground is met.

The building is fully sprinklered. and there are actually two doors in the enclosed courtyard but both lead back through the building.

If the playground has a >50 OL then the doors need to swing into the building and there needs to be two of them, likely with panic hardware.....

Without a floor plan, a little hard to make a call.

About how many sq ft is this area??

What is the travel distance from the far point of the play yard to the exit? Is building sprinklered?

Which may not match building code,, But you have to meet.

Seems to me a direct access to the street would be a security issue. Both kids escaping and people sneaking in.

That is a staff problem,,, not code problem

If floorplan image has an exit door to the playground then correct the playground needs egress to public way or code compliant gathering area distanced and sized.

Would not be running the kids back into the building.
