Emergency lighting

Manufacturers specs will have correct mounting height and Manufacturer can provide info about light levels at various ranges. If not supplied with the application, just ask for it.

I only looked at one spec

And I did not see anything like mount it this high and you will get this sq ft of candle power??

Not sure if it exists?

cda,

What you may be referring to is the Photometrics of
your particular lighting fixture.

This link to only one manufacturer, but down towards
the bottom, it shows the photometrics of their fixture.
It also provides the mounting heights and coverage
areas.

We do not [ typically ] actually measure the lumens at
1 ft. above the floor level, but we probably should.
We also do not have a lumens measuring meter.

I only looked at one maker, and did not see it on thier link.

I did not know it it existed or the manufacture put on the installer or ahj to figure it out

Thanks

Just had a slow day, one day

Saw an emergency light on the wall

1.And wondered, self, is there a specific mounting height specified by the manufacture, to achieve one candle foot

2. Does anyone ask for those specs

3. Does anyone check in the field to see if they were installed correctly

We check plans and site to make sure they are there, but the Fire Marshall does the inspection of the fire alarms and and emergency lighting here, not sure he does anything other than make sure they work, but only guessing

Simple calculation. F.C.= Lumens / Distance in Feet squared.(Feet x Feet)

Lamp lumen output will decline over time. This varies by lamp type.
