We received a comment from a city reviewer regarding our exit discharge not being able to travel underneath the building. The discharge path does not travel back into the building but travels under the 2 floor. Essentially think of the 2nd floor as forming a bridge and the discharge goes under it. They referenced 1028.4 Egress courts, and stated that it had to be open to the sky. However I'm not able to find the "open to the sky" verbage in the Code. Has anyone come across this type of situation before?
The building is a 9 unit (R-2), 3 story type VB construction with sprinklers.
