What "plates" are you referring to? What is the black bracket for? My assumption is for support of the PVC pipe, ... I just wonder how.
Could be an opportunity for a Hilti ring... a big one for a 2" PVC pipe.

These plates. The above pic is of a plastic wrap covering insulation covering metal pipe.....

In the pic below, you can see that I had to pry the damn thing off, because buddy had used about six tablespoons of clear silicone to seal everything.
