metal threaded onto pvc

06 ipc. can t find it, know it's not ok. metal male fitting ( brass or steel) threaded onto female plastic fitting. any help with locating code section, thanks

In the `06 IPC, see Section 705.18.4.......An approved adapter fitting

would be needed for the transition between the different materials.

What is the pipe being used for? If the threads match, why is it a problem? The only thing that I can think of is dissimilar expansion properties.
 
ICE, FYI

If you run male metal threads into a female plastic fitting it's very easy to split the fitting.

CPC 2010

606.2.2 Plastic Fittings. Female PVC screwed fittings

for water piping shall be used with plastic male fittings

and plastic male threads only.

That was a major issue with the early Blazemaster CPVC sprinkler pipe before they put the metal inserts in the 1 x 1/2 adapters for screwing in the heads.
