Hi all-

I have a small restaurant with an entry door and a back exit door.

The client does not want the back exit door to be a second exit. so the kitchen can be larger.

The dining area is 600sf /15 = 40 occupants.

The kitchen is 600sf/200 = 3 occupants.

we have a small retail/merch area: 120 sf / 30 = 4 occupants. (is 30 the correct factor to use? Mercantile on grade)

so far 47 occupants total, under 50 so only 1 exit requried.

however, i did not count the entry area in front of the door, about 50 sf. what would the occupant load factor be for circulation?

thanks in advance

BA

Mercantile is 60 sf/occupant. The 3 kitchen occupants can use the back door for egress. If the entry area is outside, then it does not need to be included.

Is the travel distance from the most remote location (excluding the kitchen) to the main exit 75 feet or less?

The 600sf dining area has a minimum of 40 occupants based on the calculation, but ift you have a furniture layout that is showing more than 40 dining chairs you would use that larger number for your occupant load counts.
