Ok so when they started adding electric car charger parking stations to our admin garage I got silly and in a tormentous mood suggested to the facilities folk that cause we had multiple types of parking accomodations being guzzelers and electrics did we have to proved accessible parity for the electric charging locations. and would the first one need to be a van?

I was kind of kidding. .... kind of thinking..... like a bu... bur.. burecrat..........

so then I get a call about multiple locations including beaches..........

and I think ... damn could I be right??

so Ansi says scoping as adopted by the administrative athourity? and CH 11 IBC says how many but unlike say

hotel accomodations where its a # or % or at least one of each type of accomodation?

has any thought that if there are special parking accomodations like charging that a portion or # should be accessible...

I have got to stop this thinking.

The require ments vary some require 1 in25 charging stations be accessible others require 1 in 8

There is no set number that I know of

if you provide a accessible charging station it does count as accessible parking and it should be a van space

I am thinking that if they provide an electric fill station parking spot ,,,,

They should provide a gasoline fill parking spot....

Seems like Discrimination

Mark Thank you in great amounts... The info is just what I needed to set our burecrats in motion,

was not so much worried about our pilot program here at DOA but then the project is goint ot beaches and airports which we regulate / permit. So this info in the right hands will be great guidance in place of "code article" compliance reffrence.

I asked this question a year ago or so to our state guys when we mandated EV parking spots on projects over however many million dollars....they said...Gee...noone ever brought that up.....

the code now requires bicycle parking spaces ....sooo should their be an accessible space with all the signage and pavement markings? Handler?
