I am sure this has been adressed, but I can not find it. In a commercial building is a pull handle with a thumbpiece acceptable on the other side of a panic? Something tells me no since it would require tight grasping and pinching. It was specd by the architect, but I was going to submitt a lever handle in it's place. Thoughts or code #'s...

You are addressing two separate issues. Panic hardware is required in direction of egress chapter 10. Accessibility requirements would be in chapter 11

I think the question is on the non panic hardware side is the thumb push with handle allowed per chapter 11 and ada

To me, the thumb latch could constitute tight grasping and pinching........we have them on our two stairwells on all four floors, sometimes they can be challenging for anyone.
