ADA Merit/Demerit General discussion, in abstract.

Let's have some fun.

How many members have barrier free homes?

If you don't, do you feel you are violating the handicap's basic human rights?

If so, what would you be willing to spend to bring your homes into compliance, from your driveway to full access of your home?

Well let's see if you've lit the fuse.

I'll bite.

My home was built in 1993 (not by, or for me)

It is not barrier free, and it has no fire sprinklers.

I use incandescent bulbs, and my brand new water heater has an energy factor less than 0.67.

I would not spend any money to make it accessible, since I don't have the need. (and I'm a selfish arse)

Are you kidding? I don't even have a code compliant set of stairs!.....

The only reason anyone will make barrier free improvements to their private residence is if there is a need for it. Not sure what you expected the responses were going to be?

I'm trying to prove a point.

The obvious thing is to think I'm being a troll and accusing hypocrisy.

But that's not what I'm after.

It's a thought experiment.

as a family you make improvements necessary to accommodate your family members. As a society you do the same.
