Portable fire extinguishers in open parking lots?

The 2021 International Fire Code has no specific regulation for PFEs in an open, outdoor area.

Portable fire extinguishers in open parking lots?

Are the parking spaces open to the atmosphere and sky or a parking garage?

    CONRAC & QTA BUILDINGS

I gave you all the information I have. If you're the designer you need to find a licensed fire protection engineer. If your the code official, they need to provide a technical report and opinion because one cannot dispense fuel in a parking garage unless it's approved.

    CONRAC & QTA BUILDINGS

We finished one of these last year at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. It was approved based on a performance design of controlling the amount of fuel that could be released combined with drainage, sprinklers, mechanical ventilation and other features. Good luck.

    Disconnect between IBC and SDS

The classification of hazardous materials to determine if they are classified as a Toxic or Highly Toxic is dependent on a review of the toxicity data. My source that I use is Sax’s Handbook of Dangerous Industrial Chemicals. Currently I have the 11th edition and it costs about $800. One can use...

    LP Installation

Are the containers manifolded together or does each container have an individual 2 stage pressure regulator that feeds into the building? If it's manifolded, footnote "d" in Table 6104.3 (2015 IFC) dictates a 50 foot separation distance from the regulated exposures. And this is a consumer site.

    Sidewall Sprinkler obstructions

It would be helpful to know which edition of which NFPA standard is being interpreted. Also, this could be a NFPA 13R system.

    Fire rated glazing-alteration

I would say this is your answer. The NFPA 80 issue is the door and its hardware. If I place a vinyl sign on the front door of my casa de hazmatpoobah that say "Hazmatpoobah - Your Chemical Boom-by-Yeah!" that sign isn't within the scope of NFPA 80. I thin film plastic that obscures the glazing...

I was hoping it was deleted.

    Height of fire alarm

What's the occupancy, what is the adopted fire code, and what is the occupant load of said building? Also, what edition of NFPA 72 is the jurisdiction enforcing? And one more question: what's the height of the building from the finished floor to the bottom of the roof deck. Does the building...

    Compact Storage

It appears the plan review comment is only specifying that the sprinkler density in the area housing the storage unit be increased to NFPA13 OH Group 1. In your scenario, either a simple calculation or shop drawings with hydraulic calculations would need to be presented to the plan...

    Body Shop Occupancy!

Re: Body Shop Occupancy! The introduction of a spray booth does not warrant a Group H classification. By definition, a spray booth is an appliance - the only way you can get to a Group H-2 is to exceed the MAQ and to construct a spray room. I agree with Globe Trekker: It's a S-1 unless you...

    Taking today off Happy Thanksgiving

Re: Taking today off Happy Thanksgiving Thanksgiving will be a quiet event here in South Texas - my neighbors are coming over tomorrow for turkey and football. We'll eat a Turkey and drink some Turkey. I smoked a 14 pound bird on my smoker using mesquite wood and afternoon I'll be making...

    CPVC Blazemaster

Re: CPVC Blazemaster If the building is a Light Hazard occupancy AND a wet-pipe sprinkler system is being used, the pipe can be exposed in accordance with its listing. CPVC cannot be exposed if the sprinkler system is a dry-pipe or pre-action design. The FD concern is valid - if the space is...

China don't need no stupid code.

Re: China don't need no stupid code. UB, I don't know if I am ready to relinquish the control of all air travel and utilities to the Federalies. Everytime I go to the airport, I watch TSA (Thousands Standing Around) harranging old ladies in wheel chairs and I darn sure don't feel safer. FAA...

China don't need no stupid code.

Re: China don't need no stupid code. UB, I stand corrected. I should have read the article - since the Statesman is my hometown paper, I've become frustrated with some of their latest articles. Thank you for the correction.

China don't need no stupid code.

Re: China don't need no stupid code. UB, I didn't look at the article but I suspect it's some China business spin/puff piece to alleviate fears to the export nations (i.e., the United States). China business is not one for consumer protection: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/5405438.stm When...

    Registered Plant Projects

The company pays extra fees to have dedicated inspection staff who perform all of the plan review and inspections at the site. I worked in two jurisidictions where we provided the service...

Science Lab Rooms in Middle Schools
